Michaela som numera tagit steget upp till U23 klassen från förra årets juniorklass gjorde ett kanonlopp, konkurrensen i denna klass är betydligt svårare, till och med hårdare än i seniorklassen på årets VM.
Michaela hängde med hela loppet i toppgruppen, men det gick riktigt fort bland de första och italienskan som vann var totalt överlägsen. Michaela blev 6:a på VM i denna hårda konkurrens över 21,5 kilometer och visar att hon kommer att stå överst på pallen en dag. Michaela hade med detta lopp tagit en topplacering i seniorklassen! Michaela är bra med internationellt, hon vet hur man lägger upp taktiken i maraton och kör klokt i loppen. Förbundskaptenen Susanne Gunnarsson är mycket nöjd med sin adept.
I herrarnas K1-lopp över 29.7 km svarade Jacob Holst för ett starkt lopp och slutade som 13:e man, 5.37 minuter efter segraren Ben Brown från Storbritannien. Jacob som dominerat de nationella tävlingarna i år och även varit topp-5 i en WC-tävling var bl.a. bästa nordiska kanotist i herrloppet.
I ett spännande och tufft K1 lopp i seniorklassen, han var suverän i lyften och kämpade hårt hela loppet. Jacob är nöjd med insatsen, men hade gärna klättrat några placeringar till. Jacob tyckte det gick för fort i början av loppet och hängde inte med där, sen var det han som dirigerade andra klungan och genomförde loppet helt klart godkänt. Detta var Jacobs bästa placering på VM.
Michaela körde sen på söndagen K2 med Emma Andersson från Husqvarna och även här med ett bra lopp var man länge med, på slutet tröt krafterna något och man blev 9:a.
Nästa år gör denna duo ett försök att nå medaljer på VM i Singapore.
Nämnas kan också att systrarna Stensils från Vaxholm tog ett brons på K2 i juniorklassen, riktigt bra kört.
